Otherworld Stories
review 1: This is a collection of short stories based on a variety of Otherworld novels, so it can't really be rated as a stand-alone book. No one should read it unless they're already familiar with the Otherworld and the characters.A couple of the stories were only so-so (I didn't really care for Aaron's story, as much as I like his character.) There were some good Lucas/Paige stories and one involving Sean Nast, of whom I wish we could see more. The gem of the book is the almost novella-length story of how Clay and Elena first met. SO incredibly sweet!Definitely worth the read for any Otherworld fan.
review 2: This book is a compilation of 8 short stories, written by Kelley Armstrong, to accompany her Otherworld Novels. All of the proceeds from this book were dedicated
... moreto World Literacy of Canada, a nonprofit voluntary organisation dedicated to promoting international development and social justice. All of these stories add volume and flavour to the Otherworld Series, and they are an absolute pleasure to read. I feel as though I know each and every one of the characters, and I miss them when there are no more pages left in the book. But, no time to be sentimental and nostalgic. Here are the 8 short stories you will find in this book:1. Rebirth - Narrated by AaronIn this wonderful short story, we get a glimpse into Aaron's life pre and post vampirism. In fact, we are not just given an insight into his life, but also his good nature. I throughly enjoyed experiencing his inner turmoil, and grew to love the character all the more for it.2. Bewitched - Narrated by EveWe see Eve and Kristof together in the Otherworld books, but only after they have both died. This short story not only lets you experience how they met and fell for each other, but what really happened to prevent them from staying together, and why Kristof didn't know about Savannah.3. Birthright - Narrated by LoganLogan, pre werewolf. Confused and alone, unsure about what was happening to him, looking for a connection to his father, even if it was purely medical. What he finds is so much more though.4. Beginnings - Clay & ElenaEasily my favourite story in this collection. These two are so loved up throughout the series, and I don't know a single Kelley Armstrong fan who doesn't love them too. It was wonderful to be able to read about how they met, how their relationship grew, and, ultimately, how Clay psyched himself up to do the deed. 5. Expectations - LucasLucas has a run in with Eve, and it's none to friendly. I'm a big fan of Eve, so I relished seeing her in her element, human for a change.6. Ghosts - JeremyThis is a very short trip into the mind of Jeremy. For a man so long, he has truly been through some exceptional hardship, and helping Elena through her change was just the tip of the iceberg. Reading his internal struggle made me sympathise with him on a whole new level. 7. Wedding Bell Hell - PaigeThis story was light hearted, and a whole lot of fun. It was fast paced, frantic, and chaotic at times, but that just made for an amusing read. Weddings are always a challenge, but a supernatural one, where the father of the groom just can't help sticking his oar in? Now that's a challenge!8. The Case of El Chupacabre - Lucas and SeanWe learn Sean's secret, and watch him struggle with it whilst the Cabals get all hot under the collar for a completely different reason. Vampires. Lucas and Paige are thrown into an investigation that puts the vampire race in jeopardy, and results in them making a life changing decision. Very exciting. less
