review 1: This book was interesting it was based on a girl who loves to cook and loves to write, but who doesn't know what to do with her crazy mom. Ever since her dad left her and her mom when she was little, her mom went crazy she became desperate and depressed. So, most of her life Sage has been on her own dealing with the money, the food, her mom and herself. Everyone at school knows how crazy her mother is so they all stay away except for the Goldburgs, their neighbors and her "saviors". Vern Goldburg her bestfriend has always had a crush on Sage, he was her own hero. They were basically family to her until Roger came into her life then everyone looked at Sage differently, she might have been called popular or even pretty. Roger was a jock, and soon enough Sage's boyfriend he was ... morerude, but Sage never saw it untill the end. Sage never gave herself credit, she thought of herself as fat and not pretty so she always worked out. In this book you will see who Sage can trust and the people who just use her.
review 2: I was going to read this to my 12-year-old niece. I thought it was something we could talk about, not wishing you were someone else. Like the book says "don't compare your insides to someone else's outsides." However, unfortunately, there is one scene where the boyfriend is trying to force her into a sexual act that I am not comfortable discussing with my niece. That pretty much means the whole book goes out the window. It could have been handled differently. less

In progress: suffice it to say, a fun read. Glad I'm not in high school anymore.
PRECIOUS
That was pretty lame. Too many problems, too simplistic, too surface.

Not note worthy, but a fast read dealing with self-esteem
