review 1: I decide to read this book because it was a recommendation made, by Goodreads. The character really impressed me be use of her kindness. "'Please help me I need to learn how to raise an Ophi. I know the secret is mixing my blood, but what do I do after that?' 'You want to raise the ungratefully creature that lost her life trying to disgrace our names? ... 'Medusa, she was stupid. She didn't know what she was doing. Please, let,me save her. Help me save her'"(Hashway 178) This quote shows that even though other Ophi, looks down on Jodi she is kind. An Ophi was stupid becuase she let her jealousy get the better of her. She went and got herself killeed, but Jodi still saved her... in the end that Ophi still hates Jodi. This book can be a perfect example of consequences of let... moreting your emotions get the better of you.
review 2: "Touch of Death" is a fast paced, entertaining read about Jodi, a teenager who discovers that she has the power to kill and the power to revive the dead. I have no idea how true the mythology that is woven into the plot is, but it was enough to keep me intrigued and riveted. The story itself is essentially divided into two parts, even though it's not officially broken up as such. Thankfully it didn't take much mental effort to shift from part 1 to part 2. There were a few plot points that seemed a bit contrived (for instance, much of the initial interaction between Jodi and Alex seemed a bit implausible), but it didn't detract from my enjoyment of the story. Definitely going to be looking out for the sequel! less
