review 1: I have had this book for about a year. It was one I would look at and say, "I really gotta read that" but never picked it up. Well I finally did. Getting into it was easy, sticking with it was hard. Over about five months I read a chapter here and then there. Then I hit chapter seventeen and the story took off like a rocket. You really start to see the connections Sarah has to Amber House, and Jackson. The dynamic between Richard and Sarah is honest, you can feel the conflict of feelings from Richard towards Sarah, he's hanging out with her for his fathers sake and yet he is getting interested. But you can sense that there is more between Jackson and Sarah. Sarah is really confused as she is also hanging out with Richard for her mother yet she seeks Jackson out. Then their... more is Sammy, you just love him from the start, he is so adorable and knows more than anyone else in the house. It's a well written story, even though it took me a while to get into it. I will be getting book 2, Neverwas.

Non deve combattere mostri, vampiri, alieni o qualche altro essere soprannaturale, lei deve combattere il passato. Deve lottare contro gli errori che hanno commesso le sue antenate secoli or sono e cercare di rimediare ad essi, in modo tale che cessino di affliggere la sua intera famiglia. Anche se la sua missione può sembrare pericolosa e avventurosa, Sarah non prende in mano la situazione come ci si potrebbe aspettare. Questa impresa è quasi come un gioco, come dovrebbe essere per una ragazza i sedici anni intenta a scoprire cosa la circonda. I dialoghi e le situazioni, che ad una prima occhiata possono apparire semplici e scontati, in realtà racchiudono la genuinità degli adolescenti che invece di fermarsi terrorizzati di fronte a strane visioni e scale scricchiolanti, continuano nell’avventura come una grande caccia al tesoro che nasconde immense ricchezze.Amber House non fa solo da sfondo della storia, è parte integrante del racconto, possiamo dire che sia la coprotagonista del romanzo. Al suo interno si sono consumati drammi, sono sboccati amori e creati legami indissolubili. Tra le sue mura si nascondo segreti celati dal tempo, dimenticati dai loro stessi possessori ma che la casa non ha abbandonato, li ha custoditi per molto tempo, fino all’arrivo di qualcuno in grado di comprenderli fino in fondo. L’ambientazione è una delle cose che mi hanno colpito di più, sembrava di trovarsi veramente in quei luoghi, in quella ricca casa sudista alla “Via col vento”, dove il tempo sembra essersi arrestato. Anche i numerosi cambi di scena sono descritti con abile maestria dalle tre autrici che sono riuscite a creare un romanzo unico nel suo genere, ricco di mistero, amore, sofferenza e speranza. less

So far, th best book I have ever read, I have never thought that I would read something this amazing. I wish I had a house and ancestors like that, I wish it was real.
