review 1: I really liked the first book, Amber House, but I can't get past the ugliness of the alternate reality presented in Neverwas. It made me sick. I read to escape from reality and this was a harsh, cruel world to be dropped into. I might have been able to finish the book despite the setting and general attitude, if the characters had been as engaging and interesting as they were in the first book. Personalities were entirely wiped out during the world building for the alternate reality.
review 2: This is one of the best books I have ever read! I only read the first book because the price had marked down to $2.50 but after I read it I knew I had to have the second one. Now that I'm finished with the Neverwas I have to have the the third one! I am going to die witho... moreut Otherwhen. This book was so good I didn't want to set it down. I read for hours on end only stopping when it was absolutely needed. Awesome book and entirely compelling. less
