review 1: This is my first book by author Kendall McKenna, I truly loved the style with which this author tells a story. Had me hooked from page one.Adam Madison is a character I could really relate too. He is trying to stand on his own and not rely on his big brother’s shadow to get him by. He is a strong man, who suffers a lot in this book but manages to be very human and loving. I liked that about him, even though he was in hell at one point he kept his wits about him and managed to think on his feet. He didn’t necessarily just wait for someone else to rescue him.Dawson Rivers he is trying to make the shifters follow him. He is strong, very alpha. But what I liked about him is he really did know how to lead. He wasn’t all demanding and pushy. He let each person shine in t... morehe job they were good at. A true leader if you ask me.Overall Strength of the Mate is really intense and sexy at the same time. I did find myself feeling slightly lost in the connection the wolves had, I think it is because this is my first book in the series. However it really had a lot of heart and soul. This is the book you pick up when you want to sink into a great story with men you will always remember. Four twinkling Stars
review 2: What I like best about this series is the utter lack of the word gay in any of these 3 books. That is because in the world Kendall McKenna has created there is no such thing as gay. Everyone can be attracted to anyone, either male, female, human or werewolf. And no one considers it strange for two men to show the world how much they love each other. And this even in the military. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if our world was like this one? (And don’t forget the bonus of all these hot werewolves running around, I would so live in this world!)To say I loved this book is putting it mildly. I adooooored this book! I actually loved it just as much as the first book. This book revolves around Adam, Tim’s younger brother, who acted all bratty in the previous book. Well, not anymore! Adam works as a civilian contractor for a company driving supply trucks for the military in Iraq. His heart stops when he sees that Dawson Rivers has been sent to the same base camp he resides. He has met Dawson previously when he was staying at his brother’s house and he cannot help himself drooling over him each time he sees Dawson. Dawson is there to sort out pack business with the current pack leader, who is doing a terrible job. Dawson thought he would be helping the current pack leader controlling the rampaging wolves not knowing the pack leader is the instigator. Dawson has no choice but to challenge him and take his place as pack leader.Adam runs in to Dawson after the first full moon since Dawson has arrived at the camp and Dawson makes it clear he wants to make Adam his. After this night Adam is pursued relentlessly by a very determined werewolf.I wasn’t sure I liked Adam in the second book. He was just acting as a brat the way he was always mad at Tim without reason. But in this book I soooo loved him. He was just so cute, especially when he had trouble forming sentences whenever Dawson was around, aaaaaw. And Dawson… boy.. where can I get myself a hot werewolf like that? I just loved all the wolves and the way they were always needing to touch. I really like it when one of my MC’s is all alpha male and knows what he wants without being mean or cocky. Dawson knew he wanted Adam and he just went for it. And the sex scenes… my God, these were scorching! I NEED to get myself a werewolf! less
