review 1: Wow, wow, wow. Fuck yeah 5 stars favorite in Gigi terms! I hesitantly picked up this ebook because I love military stories but read that the first two focused so much on the military that it overpowered. I decided to start with the best and take my chances with The Final Line as a stand-alone. Boy did I have a fun afternoon. This book was amazing! There seemed to be a perfect balance between Corey & Sean's romance & the military drama. The initial meet was sweet, the pursuit was great, and while we don't fully understand some character development about Sean, I loved him just the same. Will definitely go back and read the first two in the series and hope they are at least half as good as this gem! It was my first book by Kendall McKenna but it definitely won't be my las... moret! :)
review 2: Wow. My heart is still in my throat. So much amazingness about this book: the mystery was complexed, slowly, tantalizingly pieced together, and it always retained a strong humanistic, personal edge; the delivery compelled me to keep reading and then powed me in the gut! And the characters! The main character struggled through searing emotional trauma, and his growth and self-awareness was realistic as was his developing affection for the other main character. Both men were fully-dimensional, mature men. Sean was a tad too perfect, too together--it would have improved the emotional balance, the equality, if Corey could have assisted him with some personal struggle as well. I completely understood Corey's insecurity regarding the relationship, and I think it was still somewhat unresolved. The sexual tension was sizzling. Special mention for dealing sensitively (and erotically!) with erectile dysfunction.I admire the amount of research the author put into this book, too--all the military jargon and procedures! I don't know if it was accurate but it was sure specific (without being boring to someone such as me who is not interested in military themes at all). The editing was fantastic as well; the only time I cocked an eyebrow was when I did a count check and saw the verb-adverb phrase "sighed explosively" was used ten times. I haven't read any other books in this series, so this was a solid stand alone. Loved my trip into this world. less
