review 1: Scottish vampire Ian MacPhie has been stuck in his 15 year old body for 500 years. Disgusted because women don't take him seriously, he takes a drug to age himself to 27 years of age. Signing up for an online matchmaking service gets him more women than he can handle. But the only woman he is interested in is the new human who has been hired as a daytime guard. Toni Davis takes a job as a bodyguard for the undead so she can get proof that vampires do exist. But she doesn't expect to actually like the people she is working for...or to fall in love with one of them. This is the 5th book in the Love at Stake series and I thought it was very entertaining. Kerrelyn Sparks writes a fast paced story with lots of humor. My rating: 4.5 Stars.

... morey my new fave!Ian, Ian, Ian, I've had a soft spot for him ever since the 500 year old man trapped with the face of a 15 year old, hit on a lady vamp and was turned down because of his youth. Poor guy. 500 years of constant rejection doesn't exactly boost someone's self esteem. As a result Ian's had to use mind control on mortal women to obtain sex and blood. and his vamp friends even suspect he is a virgin. But now, thanks to the stay-awake potion/aging potion, he is finally all grown up, but painfully insecure and unaware of his new, dashing good looks. (After all; vampires can't see their own reflection.) Who can resist a man like that? Who cares if he's not a billionaire like the previous vamp bachelors - and only owns a small castle(more like a manor house, really) ;-) Well not me, and not the hundreds of mortal & immortal women who call him try to pick him up when his friends sign him up for online dating. Oh my GOD, that's hilarious. (The speed dating made me gasp for air! Although the Corky Courrant news report was downright cruel. Can someone please stake her?)Toni, the new day guard, is everything Ian doesn't want: She is not a male guard, despite her name, and she is mortal. She even taunts him by tagging down his t-shirt in his death-sleep after she recieves phonecall number 300 from a lusty woman wanting to date him. Plus, she is obnoxiously secretive, and he doesn't trust her agenda. (Rightly so, since she is out to expose vampires and spring her best friend from the psychiatric care facility where she is being held because she believes in vampires.)But their chemistry is (eventually) sizling hot, and I adore Ian's puppy dog act when he apologizes for the lack of control over his slightly larger/all grown up, ahem, *gear*. And who would say no to a guy who tumbles off the roof for you? ;-)Loved this story. less
