review 1: This is a book you can read, or you can do. Like any good self help, this one gets you to re-think your previous patterns. I tend to sometimes just read these kind of books and not take advantage of all the bonuses. Because I got a new edition, there are further benefits in the barcode -or a code only for this copy- that allow you access to the support of the website etc. The best idea I have learned so far from this is that willpower alone will not help you succeed. However you can actively tune your environment and your social influences to tweak the situation in your favor towards success. Then when you muster your willpower into the equation it will finally work. I also really like the idea that you are the scientist who is slowly applying theories to find out what wo... morerks. A personal example is that somehow I really do well when I am bicycling to work for exercise. I cant just go ride my bike in the off hours and actually get in the same daily exercise. Because I have to get to work the motivation is not only somehow different but I can use some of the same anxieties of getting ready for work and getting out of the house toward my "workout". Some of the social reasons are that people also applaud me for doing it. No one pats me on the back for parking my car in a parking lot! This books theory would suggest that part of the reason this method works for me is that bicycling to work fulfills more areas in my social and environmental support so that I succeed.
review 2: Interesting book. In this book it suggests change needs a scientific approach not willpower. So to change one must be the scientist (observation) and student ( planning) and treat the change as an experiment. Learn the skills to change the habit and then have an effective support system.Having visual cues will also assist in changing habits. Also know the difference between a friend and an accomplice. Friends support change accomplices enable bad habits less

Heard most of it before in other books, mainly The Power of Habit and Willpower.
