review 1: This is a very short but very hot novella. We meet Mia in the stairwell of her apartment during a self-described "crappy day". That all changes when the power goes out because she gets to spend time with Tristan, the hottie she met in said stairwell. Their night turns quite interesting and could be leading to something more than just a one night affair. That's where I thought this novella was quite different than most sexy stories of the same type. The two of them seem to be normal people, who don't just jump into bed with someone on a whim, but want a relationship bigger than hot sex. That is refreshing because it gave their attraction more legitimacy and ended prolonging the heat coming off the pages til the very end. They were both adorable and funny, along with being s... moreexy and sensual. Plus, this novella also figured out how to introduce two or three other characters into a short story that were intriguing too!
review 2: 3 1/2 starsColor me surprised, but I really enjoyed this quick read. I'm not a fan of the first-person-POV narrative, but it worked well in this book. Short stories don't leave room to develop a character the way I'm used to, so being able to get inside Mia's mind and see how it worked was key to make me understand her - and by doing that, I got to "know" not only her but Tristan too. They were very likeable, the kind of people I'd love to hang around in RL.As this is a short story, I didn't get the defintive HEA I usually expect in romance books, but that didn't bother me. Considering the time frame of the story, the HFN ending was fitting and very satisfying. Like Mia, I'm sure the HEA is in their future and I didn't mind being left to imagine it on my own. less
