review 1: The book is boring the whole time I am reading. I kind of like the earl because he was not a flirt, and he takes his responsibility and responsibility of others particularly his brother, very seriously. Now, that's a man! I understand the immaturity of the character of the heroine when she was still soon to be sixteen. We, women do go through that stage of life where we are mawkish, too young to believe we are inlove when in fact, we're not. And I like that she's now mature but the thing that got me stop reading is her reactions towards Finn, acting like the immature sixteen year old girl again. She has a thing with the two brothers. Well, aside that I'm always waiting for something interesting to happen but my, I get nothing from it. I lasted 'til page 100 and again, it's... more absolutely boring.
review 2: This was fun. Honestly, if you think of it in fanfic-ish terms (Brady Bunch AU?), then its splendid and a bit cracky. If you think of it as a traditional historical romance that's anachronistic in bits - it's still very fun and quite good. If you like your historical romances traditional and so on - this is likely not the book for you. The only truly traditional element in here - her father cracking the whip on getting her married - was a plot device that felt terribly out of place, forced, and awkward. less
