review 1: Yes I will freely admit I am fully besotted by this author--it's true--but I can be impartial when reviewing, so here goes. First, The GAY .....series that Kim Dare puts our are light and fluffy--they are quick little reads meant, I think, to entertain--not to mire one down in a lengthy novel or sort out the world's problems. No, these little tales are simply offered as a way to lift your day, make you smile a little more deeply and sigh about how wonderful the world would be if we all could just get along and live and let live. SO with all that in mind...I recommend that you read them for just that reason--a bit of escape because they are perhaps the best written little shorts around--seriously they are that satisfying. It is the mark of a fine author in this genre wh... moreen a story as short as some of these are can still place you right there--in the middle of the action. When that same little story can make you care--worry over it's characters--want to hear more about their lives, their passions, their woes. Yes---they are short...yes they are fluffy...yes there is always a HEA...and yes with limited angst. Many may say these stories are formulaic and trite at best--I say they are a little gift to tired and ofttimes jaded readers who just need a little bit of fun in their lives. Ford is gay for the day--but not really. In fact, he has finally figured out that he has been chasing skirts to avoid what he really wants to chase--pants--men's pants...and in comes Tyler, a submissive that has been worshiping dear Ford from afar. Again, this is no mewling little submissive--no, this is one who knows what he wants and will not be walked upon in order to get it. What develops is a sweet and endearing relationship that will have you signing with joy and wishing for more.I unabashedly enjoy these books--they have their place in my library along with more harrowing tales and longer more involved novels--some of which are Ms Dare's as well. I do recommend you form your own opinion though--you may enjoy them as well--I hope you do!
review 2: I gave this book a four star mainly for it unique story line. Dare explores a D/s relationship where the sub is 1)more knowledgeable as a sub than his dominant, and 2) out of the closet. Ford who is just coming out of the closet and has never been with a man before begins a relationship as a Dominate to Tyler's submission. As a short the story is very good, but I would definitely be very interested to see a more fleshed out story with this unique dynamic. less
