review 1: Rated at 2.5Main Characters:Malinda - A young woman who travels west with her sister so they can both marry as mail order bridesWesley - Town marshal and man Malinda will marrySynopsis:Malinda thinks her life is over after the death of her father and her subsequent eviction from the only home she’s ever known. She, along with her sister, answers an advertisement for mail order brides and their lives change. She agrees to marry a banker in a small town in Colorado, because she refuses to be afraid of where her next meal will come from ever again. When she arrives in Colorado, she immediately falls for the handsome gentleman who picks her up at the train station, but he’s her sister’s fiancé, not hers!My Thoughts:It took me over half the book to have any positive feel... moreings toward Malinda. She just seemed to be a very selfish and whiny child for that long. I really didn't see why someone as nice as Wesley would bother with her. Fortunately, she changed her attitude about half way through and then the story became tolerable. Not as good as the other Brides of Beckham stories.
review 2: The Brides of Beckham is a nice little short story series about Mail Order brides and the surprises they find when they arrive at their destination. There was sexual content, but otherwise, a fun little set of stories. If you read one, read them all. Simple stories. This story is about a girl who isn't quite ready to get married but is forced into it because of her father dying and having nowhere to go. Her sister is going to marry so she follows. They end up switching grooms because they each fall for the other, but for Malinda, it's hard because she is scared of what will happen to her if anything ever happens to her husband. She does a fine job of taking care of that issue though. In this last book we do learn more about the Bride Broker. less
