review 1: Main Characters:Susan - A woman who becomes a mail order bride to get away from her "demon horde" of siblingsDavid - Brother to the man Susan was intended to marrySynopsis:Susan cannot stand living with her eleven younger siblings for another minute, so she answers an advertisement for a mail order bride, carefully choosing a man who has never married and has no children so she won’t be plagued with other people’s ill-behaved offspring. When she arrives in Fort Worth, she finds out her fiancé has been killed, and his older brother is offering to take his place. The only problem is his brother is a widower with four young boys. Dare she do it?My Thoughts:This is another quick, easy and enjoyable read. I think the two olders kids became attached and obliging too quickl... morey and I thought Susan decided ot consumate the marriage with David way to quickly considering how angry she was about his underhanded way of getting her to marry him (let alone when she found out about the bribery with the older boys) but other than that I very much enjoyed the book.
review 2: The Brides of Beckham is a nice little short story series about Mail Order brides and the surprises they find when they arrive at their destination. There was sexual content, but otherwise, a fun little set of stories. If you read one, read them all. Simple stories. In this story we have a bride who is tired of the chaos that her large family causes and she's ready to escape and make her own life. Her groom dies before she arrives and she ends up getting tricked into marrying his brother who has 4 children. In the end she makes them all toe the line and all turns out just right. This has a different cover than the one I read. The first 3 in the series had old fashioned dressed ladies in the ones I read. Not these modern looking girls. less
