review 1: Okay, so, I loved this book to death, but, seriously, WHAT HAPPENED TO SAF?????!!!! I NEEDED his and Bitterblue's happily ever after, however impractical that is in Monsea, and, in fact, in reality and modern society. I suppose the message in this is that life is not perfect, and nobody has a truly and completely happy ending. Yes, good message, yes, true. But that doesn't mean I have to be happy about it.I guess it was admirable of Bitterblue to stay and look after her kingdom even though her heart was calling her to go with Saf. I loved how she stepped up in the book and totally repaired her broken kingdom. I'm glad to see the people of Monsea start anew.4.5 out of 5 stars. It was a lovely book. It really was. :)
review 2: I am still mesmerized by this serie
... mores. Coming off of Fire was difficult because it was so wonderfully amazing. Bitterblue was not as badass as Katsa or Fire but she is loveable. Parts of this book were long but many portions had me speeding through pages. Leck is the second best villain I've ever read, following only Voldemort. There is a line from Leck's journals that is so haunting, I might never forget it. The series is truly breathtaking. less

the suspense about the truth and the lies her father created are horrific, but intense.
