review 1: White girl is bored with her life so she goes to the South and ends up solving a 50- year old crime. If only all black people had such kind white people in their lives! (/sarcasm)This book falls into a lot of the same patterns as so many other stories. The "good" white people aren't racist, and the racist ones are also "bad", demonstrated by their greed, drunkenness, and meanness. The book also ends with Jiminy being a changed woman- more assertive and bold. Yet again, a plot of tragedy and misery for black people serves as a backdrop for a beautiful white girl to "find herself." She is, of course, loved by every man who meets her as well.
review 2: This is the first book I`ve read by Kristin Gore. Having read a review of it I thought I would love it, however t
... morehis book deals lightly with a very important part of history. It is about Jiminy, a 25 year old woman who visits her grandmother Willa in the deep south and comes across the story of Willa`s cleaner Lyn whose husband and daughter were killed by klansmen in the 60s. Jiminy delves into the story and finds that racism is still present in the small town. She determines to bring justice, and in this short book of 250 pages, she sets about to do that. less

I did not care for this book. It jumped all over the place. I found it hard to follow.

Not Kristin Gore's best work. The story was intersting but very predictable.
