review 1: I’ve been a Molly Idle fan ever since Flora and the Flamingo and love her style and paired with Kristyn Crow’s storyline and as an added bonus this spooky-sweet story was perfectly times with Halloween (unintentionally). In quasi Addams’ Family form, Zombelina’s family is an eclectic bunch of typical spooky and eerie characters who support her as she pursues her dancing dreams by enrolling in a ballet class. Zombelina experiences some minor social issues with the differences between her peers and a minor case of stage fright but with the support from her family and her teacher she learns to overcome. This was a very sweet story and I loved that Crow emphasis the importance of family in overcoming pressures – the emphasis is on working hard, self-acceptance, famil... morey support and peer issues. I love Molly Idle’s beautiful illustrations! They’re graceful, fluid, and perfect for a story about dance and combined with what Zombelina looks like and her physicality make this a beautifully unique story.A hauntingly unique and clever book and I really enjoyed how the story unfolded and all the challenges undertook.
review 2: I like the theme of self affirmation and family support but frankly, the book was just weird. The picture of her taking her leg OFF to complete a challenging dance routine was uncomfortable. I know the book is supposed to be cute but honestly, there are much better books out there with the same theme. And I've seen much better books on odd ballerinas that feature hippos, dinos and chickens but um, not zombies. (If you like zombies and picture books, try Zombie in Love, which is hilarious and works better, maybe because the zombie is an adult, not a child) less

A cute book that was more about ballet for me than zombies. Enjoyable!
