review 1: As a whole it was nothing spectacular. The first two thirds of the book drag on and the characters aren't particularly enjoyable, making it very difficult to get into, but the final portion of the book makes the whole thing worth it. It goes from dull & borderline annoying to delightfully poetic and ever so slightly creepy. So while I didn't love it, the final sections made it enjoyable and worth my time.
review 2: Personally I found this to be an amazing read. I enjoyed the descriptions of raw emotion and the comparisons between taste and love. While it is a relatively short book there are some chapters that took me a little longer to read and the wording and can be a little complex especially those involving cooking and relations to food. But the ending took
... moreme by surprise and I loved every second of it. For me, it was completely unexpected and it was something powerful and beautiful to read. less
