review 1: COMMENTO : Questo libro narra un dramma famigliare ed inizia con la scomparsa di una madre.Attraverso il racconto impariamo a conoscere questa donna semplice e determinata, che ha annullato se stessa, vivendo per la famiglia, come molte donne di tante altre famiglie.L'amara lezione che si può trarre da questa lettura è che troppo spesso diamo per scontate persone e cose, salvo poi rammaricarci e pentirci amaramente quando queste non ci sono più. I personaggi scaturiscono a poco a poco dalla narrazione dei fatti passati, prendendo forma, come plasmati dall'autrice.Un affresco famigliare che fa riflettere, sorridere e a tratti commuove.
review 2: This was a bit of an oddity. It attempts to use second person all the way through which is hard to do and slightly ... moreconfusing to follow. It tells the story through the perspective of four different people which is also odd but does lead to some interesting insights. The ending is a bit confusing and hard to decipher. However, it had some great stuff to say about the nature of families and how we often don't know everything about the people we claim to know so well. I enjoyed it and enjoyed getting a peek into Korean family life. less
