review 1: I found Crave the Night to be an entertaining story. Even though there are characters in the story that I'm sure have their own books in the series, Crave the Night also stands alone. The characters are strong, their story line is well written, and there's a bit of a twist at the end which is a nice surprise. One of the best parts of this book is that the author didn't spend much time on the blood sharing of the characters. The aspect is definitely there because of the nature of the story, but it wasn't a major part of the story. I enjoyed reading about the interactions and emotions of the main characters. The story just moved along so smoothly that all aspects of it (the blood sharing, the emotions, etc) were all integral parts that meshed extremely well. It made for... more an easy read, but not a no-brainer read. One of the best mixtures of a story I enjoy, that's for sure. There was one aspect of the book i wasn't keen on and that was the way the author dropped the "F" bomb. it was literally here once, then there once. It wasn't like a typical word a character used regularly. It made me feel it was put in there for either shock effect or the author felt she needed to use it. In my estimation it wasn't needed. But that is the only thing of this entire book that I wasn't crazy about. All in all, I felt this to be a well written book, I enjoyed the time it took to read, and will be reading some others of this series.
review 2: I have not read any of the other Midnight Breed books so I approached this book as a stand alone. I have become the fan of many series this way, by reading a late book followed by devouring the rest of the series but Not this time. I was unable to connect with characters. Their attraction for each other seemed false and forced. So while not a bad year it had none of the qualities to raise it above average . less
