review 1: Well I'm fine with reading books where I don't like the characters. I mean I didn't like most of the characters in The Great Gatsby, but I think it's a great book. This isn't a great book, but the story had elements I could relate to and it was well written. These are two dreadful parents but dreadful parents exist in the world and therefore I think it is worthwhile to read tragic stories about tragic lives. Unfortunately, those stories are more difficult to tell and more difficult for the reader to enjoy.
review 2: wait. what? (to the lovely person who recommended this book, please avert your attention) It is possible that 2/3 of the pages of this book were missing which would explain a lot. However, I fear that isn't so. I didn't give a crap about any perso
... moren or any event in this book at any point. The Boy himself is practically mentioned in passing, what the story really focuses on is… well, I'm not even sure. Nothing, really. The main character was useless and uninteresting and a piece of crap mother. The only moment I had a more-than-one-star feeling was about 90% in when the woman's housekeeper rips her a new one and I pumped my fist a bit. less

Much more a "mom" book than a "boy" book. If I were a parent, this might have resonated more.
