review 1: I'm not from the South, but Erin Clark's Georgia accent brought the book alive for me; her Russian one was great, too! Story veered a bit into chick-lit territory for me at times, but overall I was busy getting into Cherry's sense of humor. I had wanted to know more about she and her siblings live with the grandfather, but enough was alluded to that I figure it can come out over time in future stories.
review 2: I took a chance with this book as the blurb sounded interesting but in the end I was disappointed. The mystery was passable but I had a hard time connecting with the characters. It took a while but I finally decided most were simply too redneck for my liking, especially the central character, Cherry. There were some well written scenes (the funeral w
... moreas a hoot) but mostly I just kept checking to see how many pages I had left to read. It's not a bad book, it just wasn't for me. less

Hummm.. Interesting read. Definitely a cozy mystery. It was just difficult to follow at some point.
