review 1: While the author has a tendency towards overstatement - indeed, Osborne has all the nuance and subtlety of a sledgehammer - he makes a lot of good points that pack a humbling punch, particularly for those of us whose focus on the importance of doctrine, or social action, or "crazy love", or (fill in the blank) brings us to a place of looking down on others in the church who aren't quite in our "camp". For those not typically given to books, not to fear; this is an easy read.
review 2: "Accidental Pharisees" is well-written, clear logic solidly supporting its major points in Scripture. It might lead an unwary Christian astray if it were the only Christian book read, but it is an excellent counterbalance to the plentiful books on becoming a truly committed disc... moreiple and striving for holiness. By themselves, those books too may lead astray and cause much unnecessary worry and concern. All Christians are simply sinners saved by grace. We risk becoming like the 1st century Pharisees when we fail to grasp the full message of Christ. less
