review 1: Paradise Rot was a surprisingly fast read. I enjoyed the book throughout. The author took awhile to get into the zombie action, but once he did the story took off. I have read several zombie titles and this one was a lot different. It is full of funny and exciting action sequences. Kyle is an advertising designer when he's not in rehab. He gets an advertising gig at a Caribbean island resort run by centuries old zombie Jackson. When Kyle meets and falls for beautiful Cate the fun really begins. You have crazy jungle women, talking dogs, Ivy league Rastafarians and a drugged out ex military pirate.My only criticisms are that both the characters and action sequences could have been fleshed out a bit more, pun intended. The battle sequences were a little hard to follow... more but exciting all the same.Over all a great read.
review 2: Fun, satire and fast paced action zombie horrorKyle works in advertising has a break down ends up in a mental health ward watching law and order then gets a "dream" job working in the carribean.This was a real fun zombie read felt a little sorry for Kyle constantly passing out but it was so funny.There are two types of zombies in this the animal flesh eating dumb zombies and the human flesh eating smart zombies who look and act like humans but smarter as one of them has the brilliant idea of turning an ex secret army bomb location into a cheap 5 stars Caribbean holiday but actually an all you can eat zombie buffet. So it's up to kyle and his rag tag gang to save the holiday makers and the world from the zombies. To be honest kyle is the glue of the group rather than the brains. Woman (character's name) and her side kick Dog (did you know if a dog gets bitten and survives the side effect is talking?) and Cate are great characters and really add to the first half of the book till all the others join up. less
