review 1: Spoiler Alert. I enjoyed this story of Clara, Lizzie Rose, and Parsefall encountering danger and magic. The evil Grisini with his trap for the children was a suitably dark and dangerous character. His magic turned Clara into a puppet. She would stay that way until he could collect ransom from her father. Enter the police and Grisini flees to the home of the witch Cassandra. Now he must get Parsefall and Lizziei Rose there to steal the fire opal from Cassandra so she can be free of its curse. Only a child can accomplish that. Of course the evil of the opal will transfer to the thief. When Lizzie Rose finds the "trap" letter from Cassandra in Parsefall's pocket, she determines to seek the promised inheritance as their only way to escape the threat of Parsefall's arrest whe... moren Sr. Wintermute finds the picture of his son Augustus in its silver frame at their lodging. There is magic at the castle. Sine of it evil. But Cassandra starts to care a little bit about the children. When they find out Grisini is there, they try to leave and find they can't. I really like the denouement. But I will stop here.
review 2: Gothic and Dickensian in nature, I enjoyed the twisted tale of Grisini, the evil puppetmaster and Cassandra the witch that calls upon him to break the curse of the fire opal necklace. Two orphaned children Parsefall and Lizzie Rose are taken in by Grisini to help run his marionette puppet show. Little do they know, Grisini has the power of enchantment and cast a spell upon Clara Wintermute, the daugther of a wealthy doctor, turining her into a puppet. It is up to Parsefall and Lizzie Rose to save Clara. less
