The Boleyn Trilogy
review 1: I had a hard time getting into this third entry into Laura Andersen's trilogy -- book 1 was good adult historical ficiton; book 2 became a young adult. Book 3 started off like a young adult and then about 2/3 through it picked up into a pretty solid story. I wasn't happy with what she did to Dominic at the end...that last piece could have been left out .... or on. With the comment about Minuette's child the door does open up to another series -- this time about an alternative reality around William himself. I will say the last 2/3 -- especially the story around Dominic reminded me A LOT about the Tudors and felt a lot like a variation on that series.
review 2: Laura Andersen's alternate history is beautifully created and feels absolutely true. I love alter
... morenate history, and in many ways this version of history has a neat symmetry with the "real" one, but there was one unexpected death in this third book (one significantly inconsistent with the history that we know) that really affected me. I am impressed that the book was able to touch my emotions as powerfully as it did. less
