The Boleyn Trilogy
review 1: The Boleyn Deceit (The Boleyn Trilogy #2)By Laura AndersenSynopsisPerfect for fans of Philippa Gregory and Allison Weir! After presenting readers with an irresistible premise in The Boleyn King (what if Anne gave birth to a healthy royal boy who would grow up to rule England?) Laura Andersen returns in this deepening saga, into the dangerous world of the Tudor court, where secrets can bring down an empire, and even the strongest of monarchs may not be able to prevent history from repeating...Henry IX, known as William, is the son of Anne Boleyn and now the leader of England, his regency period finally at an end. His newfound power, however, comes with the looming specter of war with the other major powers of Europe, with strategic alliances that must be forged on both the ... morebattlefield and in the bedroom, and with a court, severed by religion, rife with plots to take over the throne. Will trusts only three people: his older sister, Elizabeth; his best friend and loyal counselor, Dominic; and Minuette, a young orphan raised as a royal ward by Anne Boleyn. But as the pressure rises alongside the threat to his life, even they William must begin to question-and to fear...ReviewI love this series, the whole concept of this series is so intriging. What if Henry the VIII and Anne Boleyn had a son and he ruled England after his fathers death. The regency period is over and William Tudor, now King Henry IX, sits alone on the throne. But England must still contend with those who doubt his legitimacy, both in faraway lands and within his own family. To diffuse tensions and appease the Catholics, William is betrothed to a young princess from France, but still he has eyes for only his childhood friend Minuette, and court tongues are wagging. There are plenty of alleged plots, betrayals and rebellions, but ultimately its the love triangle between King William, Minuette and his lifelong friend and advisor, Dominic that dominates the book. William loves Minuette but Minuette and Dominic are in love with other. Minuette must walk a delicate balance between her two suitors, unable to confide in anyone, not even her friend Elizabeth, William’s sister, who must contend with her own cleaved heart. In this irresistible tale, the secrets that everyone keeps are enough to change the course of an empire. The tension in this book is palpable and thrilling. Highly recommended.3.5 stas
review 2: This is the second book in Ms Anderson's Tudor series. It started out rather but picked up pace the further I got into the book. The author has quite an imagination. There is a love story interwoven in this series also which made it more suspenseful.I stayed half the night to finish the book and as a result slept past noon. I could hardly wait to start the next in the series but hunger drove me into the kitchen and now I'm thinking the house needs a good cleaning.I hate to wait but I'll get to the third book tonight. less
