review 1: I really liked this book but I found that as I already knew what Dev was about from the back of the book I hated him right from the beginning. I think if I didn't know the fact he had to kiss a girl before midnight I really would have enjoyed the book more as I would have found it more suspenseful.I liked the development of Saintly and the power she gained throughout the book in believing in herself. She was a very believable character who had so many awful things happen in her life that you want something positive to happen to her - which you know is not going to be Dev. I am glad that she is able to find her happiness. I would love to read another book by Laura and know less about it next time!
review 2: This modern retelling of Bluebeard/Mister Fox with a pa
... moreranormal twist is truly amazing. It has been a long time since I have been so enthralled with a book. I actually finished it a few days ago and still can not get it out of my head. Not only did she retell one of the darkest fairy tales I know, but she did it in a way that kept me guessing. At times I actually felt bad for Dev, the homicidal serial killer. True Story. I wanted for him to be able to get some kind of happiness. What is up with that? Amazing writing is what. The characters are what made this book more then just a retold fairy tale. Saintly was beautiful, complex and a whole lot of confused about her "gift" of sight. Jesse is lost, broken, kindand dead. Dev is immortal, deadly, charming and sort of a victim himself. Filled with darkness, suspense, honesty, love and hope, this book is one I will read again. I actually plan to get it in paperback as well as my e-version. It was that good. This is an New Adult book and I do not recommend it for teens due to some of the darkness and some of the honest portrayals of topics; including suicide and the mental health system. less
