review 1: I have to say, for my first vampire book, this was a good one! I never really thought that I was into vampires, werewolves, the paranormal in my reading. I have avoided them for years! Laura Kaye, however, is fast becoming one of my favorite authors, and I decided to branch out and try something new. Now I have added ALL of her vampire books to my TBR!Lucien is a wonderful vampire hero who falls in love with a human and her daughter, Samantha and Ollie. This is a beautiful, flowing, love story about an impossible love that becomes possible.
review 2: I LOVED this book. Honestly, I found Laura Kaye a bit by accident when there was a special on Hearts in Darkness. If you have not yet read something by Laura, you owe it to yourself to do so. Her writing is so well... more done you can lose yourself in the book. She weaves EMOTION into her characters that is so hard to find, and this book was no different. I love paranormal books, but even if you don't: READ THIS BOOK. Lucien and Samantha (and of course, Ollie) will have you on cloud nine. I love to fall in love with characters, and I was just happy throughout this book. I don't want to give much away, but if you are looking for a good love story, told through the eyes of a tortured soul who doesn't think he is deserving of love - read this. Oh, and normally I am not a fan of books written in first person - somehow Laura is amazing at that too. She is one of the few authors that can do it without getting her past/present verbiage confused. So good. And once you are done this book, pick up everything else she has written - you won't be disappointed. less
