review 1: OMG! I could write a 1000 word essay about this book. (I won't!!) this is such a brilliant book. I loved every minute of it. I couldn't put it down and read it in a day.The characters were well written and developed, the banter between Alyssa and Marco were clearly written and although the banter was some times intense, Alyssa did stand up to him and I loved her for that. There are other characters in the book that I liked but the didn't go into them they were around and LK wrote them but it never took your focus of the main characters which I really liked.Overall, as much as I could go on and on about the story all anyone needs to know is you will notbe disappointed, you will thoroughly enjoy it. Watch out for my two favourite scenes, the lake and the parking lot. It's not... more what your expecting believe me!Very very recommended well worth reading, and now I can't wait to read the next book 'One night with a hero' which is about Alyssa's brother Brady.
review 2: 2.5 stars*Spoilers present, proceed with care*I couldn't not write a review about this one. The storyline had potential... which was completely wasted in a failed attempt at making it something beautiful. I'd like to first have a moment of silence to grieve the explosive, brilliant love that could have been between Alyssa and Marco. Their love was sickly sweet, yes, but it felt insanely rushed. Marco had been wounded, losing the chance at the career he wanted, the nightmares of the men who died whom he took onto his conscience had kept him up for a year, he felt miserable about all that... but then other things must have happened to him while in the Special Forces, other things must have happened to him, period. It'd been approximately two years since he'd last seen her, things must've happened to her too. They surely must have talked about that at least just a little bit. But no, it's as if there was barely any conversation between him and Aly. And then BAM! In came the proposal which was a serious curve ball. I mean tell her you love her, ask her to stay, hell, tell her to be yours... but ask her to marry you? That's going a tad too fast. It was a fun read, but it was more of a short, utopian sort of story that could have been enhanced. No matter the rest of it, the general idea behind the book was great, so props to the author for that. less
