review 1: Fancy grilled cheese sandwiches are a staple of our family get-togethers. Everyone has their favorite cheese and bread choices that they throw together. My sister gave me this book hoping it would spark some new ideas for us to try when they come to visit for a week later this year. This book's recipes have it all---great bread, cheese and add-ins for some tasty sandwiches. Forget the simple toast, Kraft slice and Campbell's tomato soup of childhood. These are grown-up combinations but remain comfort food. The author, Laura Werlin, also uses generally easy to obtain, economical ingredients. I appreciate her format of including suggestions for how to best build and cook the sandwichess instead of simply including recipes.
review 2: This is the book for you if ... moreyou want to invest time and money into making a fancy and luscious grilled cheese sandwich.This is not the book for you if you are planning on making a grilled cheese for your four year old at lunchtime.All the recipes look incredible, however with personal economic constraints (no $14/lb cheese, please) AND a hungry four year old at home, I did not personally make any of these sandwiches. Just drooled a bit. :P less
