review 1: One of those books that turns out to be far better than expected--a new author for me so didn't really know what to expect. But it is so well written and brings a multitude of characters, scenes, issues, family history and antagonisms all together in a tightly woven literary tapestry. It's all about the inner struggles two people have--one over the life she wants to lead that is so out of sync with the expectations of her aristocratic family, and for the other it is about settling some long held angers and gaining a revenge that seems out of place over a feud that is over 200 years old. Rich in European scenes and the many facets of life in those times, it is a wonderful story and one I am so glad to have read.
review 2: Steamy! This is a definite recommenda
... moretion to those who like their romance novels with a little bit more spice. I don't like widow stories but something about this book pulled me in. Sophia is not a young ingenue but a woman who has gone through some hard times. She's worried about her future and trying to make the best decisions possible. Dominic is definitely a devilish rake but he has a better side too. I really liked Dominic's character because he stays just a bit flawed through out the whole novel. He isn't perfect but he's good for Sophia. less

This was an excellent book, a little racier than what I'm used to but definitely loved the story.
