review 1: Having read her other books I was a little disappointed. The chemical gardens novels were phenomenal. The concept of this book is a little weird. It is a little to much of a stretch for me. A city in the sky above earth and nobody from the earth has tried to get to it? Also they get in a giant bird and drill through the floating island to be free? Really? A giant bird? Besides that I always enjoy her writing style but this plot was just not working for me.
review 2: I thought this was an interesting idea, definitely something different. This is my first DeStefano book and I thought the writing flowed well. When describing this world to us I thought she did a good job of telling us only what was necessary to the story and not babbling on about every tiny detail
... morefor half the book. I found the undertone of the book to be a bit sad. But I really liked Lex & Alice and enjoyed Morgan & Pen's friendship. I loved the way Basil was with Morgan, he was so sweet & would do anything for her. less

I enjoyed this book a lot. I thought it had a good plot, and likable characters.

The main characters relationships were the best part of the book :)
