review 1: This is most definitely not a book I would ever pick up in a thousand years, quite the opposite really, mostly because of the title (I even took a picture to show my friends and laugh). Then I saw who it was by and I remembered reading the first book in this series when I was in fifth grade (?) and I felt compelled to finish it off. While I was in middle school the girls were in high school and now as a junior in highschool they are in college. It was a very fast read and a pretty typical "teenage girls in highschool" book. Sorority girl falls for a geek, date rape, girls kissing girls, depression, highschool sweethearts break up, etcetera etcetera. The only reason it didn't make me gag is the nostalgia behind this series (and also why I couldn't bear to rate it under a t... morehree)
review 2: I read these books way back when the first book came out and really enjoyed them. When i saw this one in the bookstore, I immediately went to the library to check it out. I had lower expectations--for one, I doubt the other books would hold up quite as well now that I am in my mid-twenties. And for two, ususally books that come out in a series this far from the previous one tend to be not as good overall.That said I was ok with yolo. I did get confused sometimes as to which character was talking--two have black font. The formatting didn't bother me. Maybe because I'm several years past college--but I didn't feel it was less authentic because it stuck to IM format. I don't remember much of the characterization in detail, so I can't say if they are true to the previous three books. I did feel like Maddie's story was rushed and incomplete. I feel like the book mainly focused on Angela and her sorority shenanigans, and her boy friend-turned-boyfriend and her crazy roommate. less
