review 1: The book surprised me and was better than I expected. To be fair though, you could see what was coming way before it was revealed. And I don't get the potential love interest sheriff. He seemed like a schmuck to me but that's neither here nor there. The resolution was interesting and could be read as an interesting social commentary about the idea of social control for protection. I hope she makes the evil Wizard show up again as a complex figure fighting for change that seems negative but is really not. That plotline would really intrigue me.
