review 1: The book was recommended to me and I believe that expectations did exceed the reality. I was almost sure that I will rate it 5 stars, but now I cannot give it more than 3.The story was interesting, there were many motivational quotes and sayings, which makes you think about your life. The story was easy to read, but at the end there was a feeling that some of actions and events in the book might seem naive for a reader.All in all, a great summer book, recommended to those, who seek something easy, yet wise (in a way) to read.
review 2: **Reviewed for NetGalley**In The Man Who Risked it All, we follow the main character, Alan, as he embarks on a life-changing series of events. After his girlfriend breaks up with him, Alan questions whether life is worth living a... morend ventures to the top of the Eiffel Tower where he comes within moments of plunging to his death. However, he meets a mysterious man, Yves Dubreuil, who challenges him to an agreement where Dubreuil will give him a series of tasks to complete that will bring him more happiness in life. The caveat is that if Alan cannot or does not follow through, Dubreuil threatens to take Alan’s life. Alan is so desparate that he agrees to this pact, even though he doesn’t know what tasks lie ahead or whether he will be able to accomplish them.And so begins Alan’s journey of self-discovery. Dubreuil teaches him to stand up for himself even though his thoughts/opinions may not be well-received. All the tasks bring about different life lessons that we could all benefit from. There are a lot of good reminders in this book about how we can be better versions of ourselves, and how we can continue to grow as individuals! less
