review 1: This is my first Bernie Rhodenbarr book, I enjoyed his character, the effortless way he enters whichever house he feels compelled to. I like his best friend Carolyn, I got caught up in their weekly food and drink dates. I enjoyed the whodunit, poor mrs ostermeyer (sp) and what happened to her, and what happened to the house. Very interesting and believable. I look forward to reading more books by Lawrence Block.
review 2: This is my first meeting with Bernie Rhodenbarr and his friend Carolyn Kaiser and I hope it will not be my last. I loved the paring. Bernie runs a book store and Carolyn a pet grooming business. They have lunch each day and are fast friends. Nothing more. Bernie is straight and Carolyn is gay. Bernie has a side line. He is a burglar and
... more just refuses to give it up. This time he uses his skills to solve a murder and pay back a client how shorted him money. less

Love this series - so glad he is writing it again. It did have a slow start but then picked up.

Bernie is so entertaining. He's funny and smart and a heck of a puzzle solver.
