review 1: It's rare I give a book by Mr. Block anything less than five stars. Nor can I put my finger on why I liked this one less than any of his others. It's not that it's not well-written, because it is. It's not that you are left hanging at the end, even though you are, because I've never had a problem with that if the story makes me want to know more.Whatever the reason, though, it wasn't my cup of tea. On the other tentacle, as a huge fan of Block's, I am glad I read it, if only because I am a completist.
review 2: This is a pretty good read; not perfect but a pretty damned good, especially if one can find an excellent cigar to go with it. It is a pretty amazing book in that it came out before the Bay of Pigs and yet already saw the writing on the wall. It deserve
... mores the reissue Hard Case Crime gave it, with this excellent new cover.(BTW, if there was such a thing as a book blender, I'd blend Killing Castro with Frederick Forsyth's The Dogs of War, another pretty good but not perfect book, and it would be overwhelmingly awesome.) less
