review 1: I read an unfortunate amount of YA novels because of the sheer volume of production. Most of it is bland, stereotypical and unintelligent. This book was a pleasant surprise. An interesting premise along with likeable ( if stereotypical) leads meant I read it in one sitting.Death Sworn won't likely top the "best of" lists but it's definitely in the top 25% of recent releases. Bring on installment 2!
review 2: It was okay. I believe I won't dwell on it for an extensive amount of time; it isn't as impressionable as other books on all accounts. What drew me to read this book was the synopsis, especially the part about Ileni being sent to a cave full of deadly assassins who have probably never seen a girl before, and to freaking live with them and teach them for
... more the rest of her life, which could last long or could be ended in a snap. That was such a cool concept that I picked it up and started reading immediately. I wasn't completely impressed, but Death Sworn held up alright. Nothing was AMAZING, is what I'm saying. But it was okay. Pretty decent. The romance was nice and evenly paced, as all romances should be. It developed at a perfect rate. Sorin was pretty hot. I'm glad there were no love triangles. The ending wasn't as exciting as I thought it would be. I expected a lot more action and plot twists, but none of that happened, or not to the volume I was anticipating. I will read the second book if I can, but the urgency isn't as high. All in all: 3 Stars. Not the best I've ever read, but definitely not the worst either. It's more of a passive book. less
