review 1: Starting a garage band in the 1980's, music becomes Harry's safe place where scars don't matter, bullies are left behind, and friends are imperfect but true in this pop-culture-spiked audiobook narrated by Lincoln Hoppe that took me back to the music, movies, TV... and a Ford Econoline van I seem to remember... from my own young adulthood. The college admissions essay format occasionally interrupted the story, but I liked the songs as chapter titles, and who wouldn't want to go on a road trip with a band - 23 gigs in 19 states - at least while Dino the Econoline holds up. For readers who enjoyed Wonder, this coming-of-age story is less upbeat as the main character must overcome not only disfiguring scars, but PTSD from the bullying and lightning strike that caused ... morethem.
review 2: The Scar Boys by Len Vlahos – High School – Wow. Just loved every minute of this book. Was lost all day, finished in a day. Just couldn’t stop reading. Highly recommended. Sort of a high school wonder with the grit and tough situations that bullying can excalate to. Learning who you are and how to be a good friend and simultaneously speak up for yourself… forming a band and celebrating the music… breaking away from parent expectations and advancing expectations of your own… that’s what stood out for me… Loved this… less

It wasn't particularly memorable or emotional but it was good enough.
