review 1: After having read a sample of the Ms. Matthews story on my Nook, I was so excited that I decided to go ahead and buy it.. I hate to say that I am regretting that decision, because although it started off really well, the 2nd half of the book was not up to par. There's something to be said about writing a really good story that's captivating without having a lot of unnecessary erotica. I'm not a prude, but I can say that I was put off by a lot of the dialog that I came across in this book. I just believe that even though a book is an IRR, that it should be held to the same standard or an even higher one than that of your garden variety Contemporary/Erotic romance. Although this wasn't horrible, it was a decent read that deserves a better sequel.I'm giving this one: 2.75 s... moretars.
review 2: Ezekiel Crawford is a werewolf. For centuries his pack has protected the town of Monroeville. In exchange, the town offers up their daughters as brides to the werewolves to help them (the werewolves) to procreate. For werewolves, females and female children are very rare. Ezekiel has finally won the right to compete for a bride and the only woman he wants is Yvonne, but Yvonne’s grandmother and father don’t trust werewolves and believe the bride fair is an antiquated custom.Yvonne is devastated when she learns that Ezekial has won the right to pick a bride, for she knows the minute he marries, that would ruin the friendship she has with him and his best friend Daniel. But to her shock, Yvonne learns not only does Ezekiel want to marry her, but he wants to share her with his best friend Daniel. For Yvonne, its one thing to go against custom and marry a werewolf, but quite another to break convention and enter into a threesome. Not only will she be going against her family wishes but also the handsome Sherriff who has a thing against her and will do almost anything to stop her from marrying the big bad wolf.It seems like a lot of fairy tale re-imagined books have been released lately. Some I liked and some I didn’t like. THE BETTER TO EAT YOU WITH was one I liked. Ms. Matthews is an author I’ve never read before, but I loved her easy writing style. Also, as I am someone who is often lukewarm on ménage books and always feel as if one of the partners will be a better fit with the heroine instead of both of them, I was surprised that I didn’t feel the same with THE BETTER TO EAT YOU WITH. So either my opinion is revising on ménage relationship or Ms. Matthews did an excellent job of making the ménage believable to me, I suspect it’s the latter. What I enjoyed most about THE BETTER TO EAT YOU WITH is how the fairy tale is re-imagined in such a unique way yet immediately identified as being related to the classic fairy tale. For example, Yvonne’s red cape and why she has it, the woodsman (aka the town Sherriff), the sick grandmother, and especially the big bad wolf. And I especially love how the Sherriff and her grandmother keep trying to save her from Ezekiel and Daniel even though Yvonne doesn’t want to be saved!THE BETTER TO EAT YOU WITH was a great read that really captured my imagination. I highly recommend it. less
