Every Other Day by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Unique. Addictive. Badass. Three words I would use to describe Every Other Day by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. I stumbled across this ebook looking for a short, fun romance story to get lost in but found myself reading late into the night whispering, “one more chapter.”
Every Other Day takes place in a world like our own but where supernatural creatures have existed for a while. Kali, a normal high school girl isn’t as normal as everyone thinks, especially her father. Kali finds herself unraveling secrets about who and what she is, while trying to not die again. Oh, and Kali might just be going crazy because an intriguing voice in her head named Zev won’t shut up.
Barnes does a fantastic job of building this world that’s half supernatural and half science. No longer are the creatures that go bump in the night stories, they’re real and even on the endangered species list. I loved reading Every Other Day and still can’t decide if I’m happy or devastated that this is standalone book. I do know that I highly recommend this book to everyone, especially if you’re in a book slump!
