review 1: This is a good mystery, but not so great that I felt compelled to read the next one (although I did!). The main character somehow didn't seem completely believable to me, and the story was just a touch too incredible to believe, but for a quick and enjoyable read, I'd still recommend it. A great airplane book, for example. It was almost worth it just to read about a different part of the world and different cultures, but it didn't completely grab me.
review 2: Tense. Suspenseful. Highly descriptive without being wordy. A mother's worst nightmare. A tightly woven plot of twists and turns. It's an unpredictable and emotional roller coaster ride through anger and fear. Sucks you right in from the first chapter and doesn't let go. There are about 11 people t... moreo keep track of (with foreign names) and keeping a who's who list at the beginning helped me keep the characters straight. I liked this book, but I'm too emotionally exhausted to start the second one just yet. less
