Henri Poincaré Mystery
review 1: Review I wrote on Amazon: I don't recall ever having written a book review on Amazon before but I really was excited to recommend this book. It sounds like such a cliché, but curling up with my Kindle on "All Cry Chaos" was all I felt like doing from the moment I started reading it. Like some other reviewers of this book, I am not particularly drawn to crime and suspense novels, but in this case the genre itself seems beside the point. This is such an intelligent book and the writing is superbly literate, while remaining accessible. It's precise, but never mired down in the kinds of details that can become tedious and make reading less fun. The plot is so original and the events that unfold, while enjoyably -- at times, horrifyingly -- surprising, are never implausible. ... moreAbove all, as another reviewer said, there is much love in this book. The characters are true -- they're human beings driven by complex, often chaotic, emotions and motivations. The protagonist Henri Poincaré is a man running on love, anger, compassion, guilt, anguish and a powerful drive to bring about a just outcome. He's exceptionally capable, but is also a person with whom, as other reviewers suggested, we can all identify. When I had finished reading "All Cry Chaos" (which I did after a couple of days of sleep-deprivation), I felt the kind of loss I sometimes feel having to leave a book that has really engaged me. What happens next to these people, especially Poincaré and his family? What is the past that has brought them to this point in their lives together? I want to read more..."sequels", "prequels", new stories with similarly compelling characters; so, I certainly look forward to Mr. Rosen's future novels. And, in the meantime, I find myself noticing fractals everywhere....
review 2: This is Mr. Rosen's debut thriller featuring Interpol agent Henri Poincare. In this story, a prominent mathematician is assassinated in his hotel room, and he, along with the room are incinerated. As he is investigating this crime, Poincare is dealing with the aftermath of a series of brutal attacks on his own family related to a former investigation of a genocide case. The result of these attacks force him to question his own core beliefs. The investigation of the mathematician's assassination take him from Europe, to the United States and Canada. Engrossing and exciting, with excellent writing, which gives me an appetite for more from this author! less

Ayame
An intelligent murder mystery, drawing on the world of mathematics to colour a very dark story.

A good book. Tough in spots (difficult situation for main character). Good ending.
