review 1: An amusing entry into the mystery genre. Though a bit flighty at times, it was decent enough. I'll admit to being distracted from this one by other books I'm reading, but I feel that the acquaintences/suspects could have been introduced a bit more thoroughly. I'm probably expecting a bit to much from the first book in a series, as an author stretches their arms around a new character and the environment. Not a bad thing, just an observation. In the author's defense, Molly, the main character is returning to her home stomping grounds after a long absence, with many of the others introduced here has some history with the main character, and like many of us in similar situations, the heroine is dealing with the differences between "then" and "now".
review 2: M... moreolly Masters designs greeting ards for a living, mostly ecards and flyers. Her husband, who is in Asia on a long-term work assignment, have two school-age children and live in Molly's home town, right next door to her best friend, Lauren. In high school Molly wrote an essay that, unfortunately, was printed on the front page of the school paper, disparaging one of her teachers, Mrs. Kravett. Now, Mrs. Kravett has been murdered and her will states her desire to have Molly manage a foundation the Kravetts had set up to help needy students. Someone is trying to make it look like Molly is the murderery. As she investigates, Molly learns a lot abouther former high school classmates, including Tommy, the local cop, Stephanie, the class witch, and Jack Vance, the nerd who grew up to be the school principal. Lots of slow digging interspersed with a couple of high energy action scenes make skimming a good option. Interesting denouement. less
