review 1: Truly an exceptional book in the thriller/police procedurals genre. There are so many clever twists and turns that I hesitate to go into details since I would inevitably spoil the surprises that make this book so enjoyable The writing is clear and concise. The story starts with a rape and as the police investigate you are enlightened to the entanglements among the police, the mob, the press and the prosecutors office and the challenges to justice. Each chapter is critical to the evolution of the book as it moves through various levels of Israeli society. The characters are complex, most with a dark side, but yet sympathetic and all too real. I can't wait to read another of Liad Shoham's books.
review 2: A crime fiction novel from a bestselling author in Isra... moreel. Now headed for the US. It took me a little while (about 60 pages to settle into this novel and start to enjoy it. The further I read the faster the page turning progressed. A crime novel with multiple story lines weaving in and out of each other. It is tightly written and has plenty of surprises. I will read more of Liad Shoham in the future. A good novel and a great first read. less
