review 1: Disclaimer: I've yet to make anything from the book, but I have read it. I picked it up as a $3.99 e-book on Amazon mostly for the grapefruit marmalade and Thai green curry recipes. There are probably only a handful of recipes in this that I'll use, and I found the writing style a little too chatty. It remains to be seen how solid the recipes are once our summer farmers' market gets going. I would have preferred a more complete table of contents rather than just have links to the season and category (e.g. Summer Fruits or Fall Vegetables.) That's fairly useless to efficient navigation. Still, it's an attractive book with photos that add to the recipe descriptions rather than just being artsy. The layout of each recipe is clear and the instructions are logical. Cann... moreing has always intimidated me ever since a relative produced a batch of beautiful, but potentially deadly (seriously, they exploded and the smell qualified as a biological weapon) canned vegetables. After reading through this book, I feel pretty sure I can pull of most of the recipes successfully -- and without anyone going to the ER as a result. ETA: What's with the public library hate in the intro? Really? Was that necessary?
review 2: I love to cook new interesting recipes, so this canning book, with it's creative twist on everything, is a perfect fit for me.Note - I am a beginning canner. Recipes I've tried so far:Strawberry & Lavender Jam - Delicious but I let it cook down too long (beginners error).Rhubarb & Strawberry Jam - YUM!Mango & Peach Habanero Hot Sauce - Thick and spicy and delicious. Long-Fermented Kosher Dill Pickles (still fermenting)Quicker Kosher Dills - Not crispy as I didn't know where to find Grape leaves but a wonderful flavor.Whole Jalapenos with Honey & Allspice - So amazing! The book is organized by season and not only has canning recipes but recipes for fun things to make with the things you preserve. Win win win for me. My biggest issue with this book is trying to figure out what to try next. Guess I'll see if there's enough Zucchini to try the Hot Cumin-Pickled Summer Squash or maybe I'll go with the Charred Tomato and Chile Salsa? less

This is a very good book, it has the basics and the different when it comes to recipes.

Nothing that really caught my eye--except for the tags at the end of the book. ;)

Awful. Do not buy this book. Recipes look good but consistently fail.

I like how it is organized by the season's fruits and vegetables.
