review 1: It wasn't quite what I expected. I picked up Lilith Saintcrow because of a short story she wrote that I really liked. I enjoyed did enjoy the series. I think a book before the first one to introduce us to Dante would have made her becoming a hederia more shocking, rather than having it happen right in the first book. I did get annoyed by Dante towards the end.Good points are the pace and the writing style. I liked the world Staitcrow developed, especially with all the different deities.
review 2: I really enjoyed this series; buying the omnibus on a whim it took a bit of time to get into but ultimately I was captured. Danny's world is set 600 years in the future but it's believable enough and there are enough subtle connections to make you feel like you are a
... morepart of it. Although there was a glossary, it wasn't necessary unless you forgot something. My pet hate are new worlds that you keep forgetting the workings of; this was; tankfully; not one of those series. I found myself hanging on Dante's every word and agreeing with her; even when she was being ridiculous. I stopped reading for a little while just after Japh appeared;he captured me immediately and the prose suggested he was going to leave... or be killed off... I wasn't ready to let go as yet and imagined all sorts of stories in my head between the two of them. Luckily and to my happy surprise, he was there to stay. The beginning made me laugh, literally, out loud. The Devil. No, really, THE Devil. Blond and gorgeous, of course. Started out as a funny adaption, became natural and ended up somewhat scary.Dante is a good strong character who nonetheless needs help (although she probably wouldn't admit to it). She takes on the devil (of all adversaries) and still has time to give you the rich back story of the history of the world. Also, I want a slicboard :) less

Good overall all but the plot is very convoluted and a thinker. So definitely not a beach read.
