review 1: Still a fascinating read, although half the book was spent mourning the loss of one of the secondary characters. Fascinating ending, wrapping up enough of the storyline that the author could decide to stop here but leaving enough open issues and plenty of room for more in the series should the author desire to continue. It is my hope that Ms. Saintcrow will continue to return to this world, and soon.
review 2: I really enjoy the characters in this series, and I liked this installment, although it was a bit gorier and grimmer than I would have liked. Sometimes I also want to give one or another of the characters a bit of a kick in the butt, but they are so intriguing that they keep me reading. I like the complexity of the alternate Victorian London the author ha... mores built, and the intricacy of the system of magic. I do hope there will be more! less
