review 1: I don't usually go for sci-fi books, but mixed with the fantasy element the final product was surprisingly good, and I can honestly say there should be more crossovers between the two. I thought that the book was well developed and written so that the different genres didn't clash, but instead they complemented each other and created a really unusual romance book.It is worth the read!
review 2: 4.0 starsImagine the high-fantasy and romance of both Throne Of Glass and The Selection mixed together in a science fiction world with a few dystopian qualities. The result is Destiny's FlowerIn compliance with FTC guidelines, I disclose that I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads. This pleasantly surprised me. Based on the description of the book and
... more the classification of it, I was expecting a sex-filled romance book with sci-fi elements. I was so wrong, in a good way. The book does imply a romance, key word being "imply". There are some cutsy scenes, but not even a kiss happens. The (possible) love interests get to know each other, form a friendship and start trusting one another, which was so heart warming.Like every book, I did have some problems with it, like the fact that it was sometimes keep up with the information and take it all in. And I also wish we could learn a bit more about the characters, because all of them are very interesting.Although I'm sure a romance will occur, this first book really focused on the setting. Something that sometimes annoys me in some alien books, it's the fact that we don't get to know much about the alien's planet, customs and traditions. It was a very well crative and unique planet, with its own history and culture. It also deals, not only with romance and sci-fi, but with social culture problems. How diversity of both factors affects society and the people who live in it, which added a great charecteristic to the novel. It has family drama, court drama and action kick-ass scenes, that all contributed to the awesomeness of this book. Another thing that was very nice in the book, was the fact that even though the main characters are adults, you never feel bothered by their age. I've always felt weird reading a book with a middle aged woman's point of view because I could never really relate to the character. The main character as strong, intelligent, kind and, my favorite of all, sassy and very funny. My favorite thing about this book it was how the plot went on, the characters were fantastic and te world intriguing and creative. All in all, this ovel was amazing and I can't wait for the next book in the series. There's a lot of possibilities with the series and I will definetly keep up with the series to see how it ends! For last, thank you Dr. Linda Harley for sending this amazing book my way, I'm very grateful!! less
